LOTUS ROOT CHIPS MAKE A GREAT COCKTAIL SNACK.
Lotus root are harvested from the lotus plant. Similar to a Brazil nut in texture, they make delicious chips when cleaned, sliced, and fried in vegetable oil. A salt and chilli seasoning is the ideal finish.

INGREDIENTS
- Fresh lotus root
- 1 to 2 cups vegetable oil
- sea salt and chilli powder to sesaon
METHOD
How to make our lotus root chips recipe.
STEP 1
Clean your lotus root well by soaking in water, cutting off any woody ends, and peeling the outer skin from the root. Slice into rounds a little over once centimetre thick. Dry thoroughly.
STEP 2
Heat enough vegetable oil in a vessel that the chips can be deep fried. Once the oil is hot, fry the chips in batches and then drain on kitchen towel or newspaper. Season with sea salt and red chilli powder.
Use as a garnish, in salads, or eat as a cheeky snack.
