Cinnamon is always used in a savoury context in Kashmiri cooking, and The Spirit Of Spice Cinnamon Masala is designed in just that way - to make your favourite savoury dishes a spicy, warming and nourishing joy. I love using the Cinnamon Masala with kale. The fennel seed in the masala plays into kale’s recessed sweetness and combats some of its bitter exterior. Paired with a little coconut oil and crisped in the oven, I think these bites of spicy baked kale rival any mass produced potato chip when it comes to a super punchy savoury snack. As always, these blends contain salt, so nothing else is needed.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 head of kale
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon Masala

  1. Heat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius, fan forced.

  2. Chop the head if kale roughly and pop in a baking tray.

  3. With the kale, add the olive oil, coconut oil and The Spirit Of Spice Cinnamon Masala. Massage the spice and oils into the kale with your hands until the kale is well-coated

  4. Pop in the hot oven for around 10 minutes, or until kale is crisped.

  5. Eat as the perfect spicy, salty snack.
